Rolex 2023 Release Predictions - Discontinued and New Models

Rolex is a brand that needs no introduction. Since its inception in 1905, the Swiss watch manufacturer has been at the forefront of horology, creating timeless pieces that are both reliable and luxurious. Rolex has a reputation for being one of the most iconic and prestigious watch brands in the world, and every year, watch enthusiasts eagerly await the release of new Rolex models.

The anticipation for new Rolex releases is always high, and the upcoming Watches and Wonders event in 2023 is no exception. Rolex is one of the most prestigious and recognizable watch brands in the world, and their new releases are always highly anticipated by collectors, enthusiasts, and the wider watch industry. While Rolex is notoriously tight-lipped about their upcoming releases, rumors and speculation have been circulating about what we might expect to see from the brand in 2023. From updates to classic models to completely new designs, Rolex fans around the world are eagerly awaiting what the brand has in store. 1. Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner is one of the most iconic Rolex models and is a favorite among watch enthusiasts. The Submariner has undergone several updates over the years, with the most recent update being in 2020, when Rolex introduced a new generation of Submariner watches with updated cases, movements, and dials. However, we can still expect Rolex to release some new Submariner models in 2023, possibly with new dial colors or materials. Some are anticipating the introduction of a rubber strap which we believe would be a huge success. Another concept that has been floating around is a Submariner in yellow gold with a green dial, or perhaps entirely made of titanium, but these are far less likely in our opinion.

2. Rolex Daytona

The Rolex Daytona is another iconic Rolex model that has been around since 1963. The Daytona has always been a favorite among collectors, and the demand for this watch has only increased over the years. Rolex updated the Daytona in 2016 with a new movement and a ceramic bezel, and it’s likely that we’ll see some new Daytona models in 2023. Another important note is that this year is the 60th anniversary of the Daytona. The expectations from fans around the world is that there will be some very exciting releases and perhaps a few discontinuations.

3. Rolex GMT-Master II

The Rolex GMT-Master II is another popular Rolex model that was originally designed for pilots and travelers. The GMT-Master II has been around since 1983 and has undergone several updates over the years. In 2019, Rolex introduced a new version of the GMT-Master II in stainless steel with a black and blue ceramic bezel, which quickly became a favorite among collectors. It’s possible that we’ll see some new GMT-Master II models in 2023. Rumours are circulating that the green and black, right-handed GMT introduced last year will become available in a standard left-hand configuration. Similarly, just as in years prior, people are hopeful for a re-introduction of the "Coke" which would be a black and red bezel discontinued many years ago.

4. Rolex Datejust

The Rolex Datejust is a classic dress watch that has been around since 1945. The Datejust has undergone several updates over the years, with the most recent update being in 2019 when Rolex introduced a new version of the Datejust with an updated movement and a new 36mm case size. It’s extremely likely that we’ll see some new Datejust models in 2023, with new dial colors configurations as well as some discontinuations. 

5. Rolex Sky-Dweller

The Rolex Sky-Dweller is a relatively new Rolex model that was introduced in 2012. The Sky-Dweller is the most complicated watch produced by Rolex. It features an annual calendar and a dual time zone display. Aside from the introducing the option of a jubilee bracelet in 2022, the Sky-Dweller has not had many new dial colors, materials, or other changes. So,its quite possible we see something new from Rolex and the Sky-Dweller this year.

There are some other models by Rolex which also feel a touch neglected over the last few years, mainly the Yacth-Master, Milguass, Cellini. We believe fans would welcome some changes to these as well!

Overall, Rolex has a long history of introducing new models and updating existing models, and we can expect to see some exciting new releases from the brand in 2023. While we can’t say for sure what Rolex has in store for us, we can make some educated guesses based on past releases and industry trends.
